Tragedy Strikes Haiti

Relief Efforts are underway,

Help is Needed

Most of you are aware of the major earthquake that struck Haiti, and the devastation it caused is widespread and massive.

We have received news that the Cathedral has collapsed and there are fatalities while many Priests are un-accounted for.

Pray for our Clergy, Pray for our Ministers, Pray those who were in Haiti to help with one of the poorest nations on earth. Pray for those who had nothing and lost everything except for the love of God.

Eternal Father, we humbly offer Thee our poor presence, and that of the whole of humanity, from the beginning to the end of the world at all the Masses that ever have or ever will be prayed.

We offer Thee all the pains, sufferings, prayers, sacrifices, joys, and relaxations of our lives, in union with those of our Lord Jesus here on earth. May the Most Precious Blood of Christ, all His Blood, Wounds, and Agony save us, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Amen.

Happy new year!

2010 is here!

As the new year is just starting 2010 is already starting to shape up as a busy one.  There are new members  who will be completing their degrees, dinners, dances, and most importantly the work we do in charity. The love of God challenges us to be our brothers keeper, and we do this through the strength of our love and commitment for Jesus Christ, because our Catholic faith directs us to, and because we are Knights!

The tough times of the past year are continuing into the new year, and the question of when we will see better economic times is on everyone's minds. Pray for all who are suffering and need our help, pray that our charity drives will be successful, and pray for those  who protect us from evil are taken care of too.

Pro Life

Pro Life, the fundamental right for the unborn to live. We are the voice of the unborn.

The unborn human beings (babies) need our voices and actions to help them survive.

Thank you to all that participated in the 40 Days for Life, including all those from other denominations, who put into action what our Lord has called us to do.

Though the 40 Days For Life has come to a close, the work to save the unborn is still in full motion. There will be many more events in the coming months to bring awareness for the Pro Life cause.

We are here to protect those who cannot protect themselves, the unborn.

Pray for the children, born and unborn, to be protected from all harm.

About Our Council

Pensacola Council 778

On May 3rd, 1903, a Charter was granted to the Pensacola Council of the Knights of Columbus and numbered #778, and now has the honor of being the 4th oldest council in the Great State of Florida!

Pensacola is a city rich in history and tradition, and holds the distinction of being the oldest settlement in the United States, predating St Augustine (1565) and Jamestown (1607). Let the festivities begin as Pensacola is hosting many activities that focus on our 450 year history, the first of which was a visit by the King and Queen of Spain, and most recently Spain's Juan Sebastián de Elcano, the world's third largest sailing ship.

Pensacola has always had a strong Catholic presence since it was founded by the Spanish explorer Don Tristan de Luna de Arellano in 1559. The first mass held was on Santa Rosa Island, what is now known as Pensacola Beach, and is marked with a stone cross which was put up by the Knights of Columbus as part of the Quadra centennial celebration in 1959.

.Cross

The early inhabitants did not last long as a major hurricane ripped through the area and destroyed most of their supplies, and they soon departed the area and did not return until the seventeenth century. The cross however has withstood the forces of nature since it was first erected, including Hurricane Ivan which decimated the island and the dunes to the east and west.

Pensacola Council 778 draws its membership from several parishes including the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, St Anne (Bellview), St John, St Michael, St Paul, and St Thomas Moore.
